Doesn’t sound like a vacuum leak like I said but when you said it sounds like “air escaping from a small hole” thats what a vacuum leak would be. You made me wonder if you knew how it worked when u posted this “it doesnt make that high pitched sound when I actually hit full boost” because as I said you won’t hear the bov at full boost if you do it isn’t working properly. I don’t think the datalog will help with this what would help is a video or recording of the sound. Yea, sorry about that, usually when I’m typing I leave out sometimes what I’m thinking because I’m thinking faster than I can type, lol.
When I first finished the setup, I don’t think I ever noticed the sound. It wasn’t until the past couple of days taht I started hearing the noise. I even had someone ride with me and it took them a good 5 minutes to even notice what the hell I was talking about.

I can’t believe anyone didn’t object. The WG needs to open when the pressure in the charge pipes reaches max boost levels. Often, under partial throttle conditions the boost level in the charge pipes will EXCEED the pressure behind the manifold. Meaning, your boost gauge which reads the pressure in the manifold, after the TB will read something like 5 psi, when in reality the charge pipes already have 15 psi of compressed air ready to rush into the intake when you open the throttle.
If you have it hooked up to the vacuum source behind the throttle, you will have a condition where your gauge will see 5 psi, but because the wastegate doesn’t know what the pressure is in the charge pipes, it will stay closed. So what’s gonna happen is you’re gonna have psi in your pipes. The moment you blip the throttle all that pressure is gonna go into your intake manifold.
And you’ll be lucky if it only lasts a few seconds. But also, think about how hard your turbo has to work just to create that pressure. You will most likely overspool the turbo over time. The few seconds of high boost will be enough to damage stuff though! You want it as close to the compressor as possible. Or at least somewhere in the charge pipes, where the pressure doesn’t vary based on throttle position.
What do you do for coolant and oil lines? How do you attach intercooler hoses? What about clearance to the head and firewall? Should I run a BOV?

Wastegate Spring Upper Housing There are two factors to consider when it comes to choosing an external wastegate-the first is valve size which is how many wastegates are generally described; for instance, “a 46mm wastegate. The valve, usually made of stainless-steel to survive the high-heat environment of the engine compartment, is forced open by the gate’s internal diaphragm. The valve reacts to pressure piped in from the compressor side of the turbo system. The point at which the diaphragm opens the valve is determined by the unit’s spring rate.

The higher the pressure the more the wastegate opens. Airflow “in” to the wastegate actuator comes from the turbos themselves and is reduced by a restrictor pill in the vacuum line between the primary turbo and the wastegate actuator.
Airflow “out” of the wastegate actuator is regulated by a solenoid that is rapidly cycled open and closed at a rate dictated by maps in the ECU. Air pressure in the wastegate actuator controls the wastegate which varies boost. The more pressure the actuator sees the more the wastegate opens and the more boost is lowered. The wastegate actuator has a mechanical spring that holds the wastegate closed until approximately 7 psi of boost is achieved. The stock boost pressure of 10 psi is factory set with the restrictor pill.
A smaller opening in the pill will reduce air pressure and raise boost. Although the ECU controls the wastegate control solenoid, it does not use boost pressure feedback to vary the amount of air pressure vented out of the wastegate actuator open loop. The ECU blindly opens and closes the wastegate control solenoid at different rates depending upon rpm, throttle position and other factors this is mapped in the ECU’s firmware.
